My initial ideas were derived from the studies I had made of monograms. I sketched these out with the intention of trying to capture the textures of concrete in print I felt the inconsistent and grainy look of printed ink would fit this quite well.
Print blocks made from greyboard and parcel tape. I subdivided them so that during printing they added relief to the paper implying a structural element to reflect concretes uses in construction.

For my Graphic Communication component 1 project: Concrete, I made some prints to capture the textural qualities of concrete. I felt the inconsistent and grainy look of printed ink fit this quite well, and so I designed a structural layout using the consonants of concrete to reflect its uses in construction.
